Custom electronic design of PCB and firmware

Custom projects almost always arrive as a problem. A machine that needs to talk to a management system, or a board nobody manufactures anymore. It takes no specification document to describe it, and from the moment we take it on, the problem becomes ours.

 

How a project takes shape

  • First contact. An email or a phone call to understand the needs; a description of the problem is often enough.
  • Analysis and proposal. We study the problem and propose a solution. Work starts only once the proposal is approved.
  • Design. We design the hardware and, when needed, the firmware.
  • Prototype. Built and tested in our workshop.
  • Trial at your site. The prototype leaves our bench and is tried on the system it is meant for.
  • Batch production. Once the trial is passed, production begins. If an adjustment is needed, the board is revised and tested again, in our lab and on site.

We take care of it

An electronics project comes with all kinds of other work, and not all of it happens in our workshop. What we don’t do in-house, we outsource to suppliers we choose and manage, and we answer for the result. Enclosures, keypads or labels arrive together with the board, already coordinated. The customer has a single contact who answers for the whole job, from the first prototype to support on the production batch.

 

The project stays with the customer

When the work is done, we hand over the project documentation as well. It is a guarantee that does not depend on our promises. We believe in the right to repair and we keep repairing boards long out of production, but should someone else have to do it one day, with the documentation in hand the board stays repairable by anyone.

 

Even when the problem is not the board

Not every request that reaches us ends in a project. Sometimes the culprit is the wiring, a grounding issue, a badly configured protocol. When that happens we say so, and the solution may turn out to be a minor fix or a product that already exists in our catalog. Diagnosis is part of the job, and all it costs is a phone call.

Do I need a specification document to get started?

No. Most projects start with a description of the problem, by email or phone. If a specification is needed, we write it together afterwards.

 

Do you produce small batches?

Yes. The size of the batch is decided by your market, not by a minimum order of ours.

 

Is the project documentation handed over?

Yes, together with the work. The project stays usable and repairable even without us.

 

What happens if the prototype does not perform?

It gets revised and tested again, in the lab and on site. Production starts only once the on-site trial has been passed.
